Kloofzicht Winter Flyfishing Competition (28 July 2019)

CALLING ALL ANGLERS – FLY FISHING COMPETITION AT KLOOFZICHT LODGE

We are now well into winter – it is once again time to pack your rods and wellies and get ready for the 8th Annual Kloofzicht Lodge & Spa Winter Fly fishing Competition with the beautiful Swartkops Mountain as a backdrop.
Fly fishing at Kloofzicht Lodge takes place under the expert guidance of Wayne Sinclair, the founding member of Sundowner Fly fishing Adventures who has over 25 years of sport and fly-fishing experience in Southern Africa. “We are counting down the days until 70 enthusiastic souls brave the chilly Sunday morning and descend on Kloofzicht & Spa for the eighth Annual Winter Flyfishing Competition,” says Wayne Sinclair, owner of Sundowner Fly Fishing Adventures and coordinator of the event.

The competition is regarded as the premium trout fly fishing competition in Gauteng. Kloofzicht Lodge & Spa is located in the Cradle of Mankind World Heritage area has a truly picturesque setting and overlooks the pristine Kloofzicht Lake and the rugged Swartkop Mountains.

Competitors are welcomed with warm coffee and snacks upon arrival. Fishing beats are selected randomly and competitors move an allocated number of beats between each session to ensure that each participant is given the opportunity to fish on the prime spots. Each of the three categories which include Men’s, Ladies and Junior’s qualifies for the trout and species sections.

This competition is known for the wonderful spirit and comradery between the competitors, with lots of laughs and sharing of techniques and tactics. Every year the highlight is the various celebrities that join-in and guests can fish along with their favourite sports star, model or radio/TV personality.

“CANSA once again our charity of choice for this year’s competition and we are honoured to support this worthy cause, as many outdoor enthusiasts battle with skin cancer due to sun damage,” concludes Sinclair.

PRIZES
The first prize is an amazing 3 night Zambezi Tiger Fish package sponsored by Sundowner Lodge & Excellence Trails. BOOKINGS
Bookings are now open for adult and junior competitors and costs R695-00 for adults and R495-00 for juniors and includes coffee and snacks on arrival, competition entry fee, goodie bag
and buffet lunch. Non fishers rates available on request. The event is limited to 70 anglers so be advised to register early to secure a chance to win some amazing prizes.
